New Camera Set Up

Secure the camera magnetically to the metal plate or metal surface. Then follow these steps:
  1. Choose a clean and flat surface, and secure the metal plate to the desired position with screws (not included) or the foam stickers provided.
  2. There’s a magnet piece inside the camera. You can skip this step if the surface is made of metal.
  3. Secure the camera magnetically to the metal plate or metal surface.4.  Adjust the camera angle as desired.

Sync your Camera in the App
  1. Create a user account – Connect your mobile phone to Wi-Fi. -Download and install the Howl app by searching “Howl Alert” in App Store and Google PlayTM . -Launch the app and register for a Howl user account following the start-up wizard.
  2. Add a camera to Howl-Log into the Howl app. – From the Howl app home screen, tap “+” on the upper-right hand corner.
  3. You will navigate to the next screen and be prompted to scan QR code.  Scan the QR Code on the bottom of the camera.
  4. Enter the verification code located on the bottom of the camera.
  5. Enter the correct time zone and DST information, and tap “Finish” to finish setup.
  6. Repeat if prompted. Ensure Wifi Password is spelled correctly.

View one or multiple live video streams at the same time in the Howl app. Respond in real time to any breach.

Locate important moments in your camera recordings. Use the Timeline Search to find the precise moment an event was captured on your Howl camera.

Storage

Howl allows you to store and access video recordings simply and securely.  

Howl video and accompanying audio is stored on the SD card within the camera (Howl does not currently offer cloud storage) to ensure the securest media possible, accessible only to you and those you choose.

Download and save recordings to your phone from Howl camera. Howl media can be saved on your SD card, but for long term video storage, download directly to your phone safe keeping, easy access, and sharing.

Settings

Howl storage comes can be saved on your SD card but for long term storage of a specific clip download it directly to your phone.
  • To rename your camera click the text box and type in the name you would like to use for that camera. Make sure you use a unique name for each camera in your house.
  • Use the toggle button to turn on or off the audio recording on your camera.
  • Use the toggle button to turn on or off the status light.
  • Use the toggle button to turn on or off the infrared light.
  • Use the toggle button to turn on or off the motion sensor detection on your camera. Click for full settings:
    • Turn on or off notification schedule to set day and time you want your camera to record.
    • Turn on or off Notification Schedule with toggle.
    • To set Notification Schedule click.  Set days of the week and times for individual days or all days.
  • Set the time zone that you are currently in UTC.
  •  Use the toggle button to turn or off whether you use daylight savings time.
  • Choose the date format you are most comfortable with (YYY-MM-DD; MM-DD-YYYY; DD-MM-YYYY).
  • Choose the wifi network that is set up in your house to connect with your camera. If you want to change the Wifi the app will prompt you to reset the camera.  You will need to provision the cameraonline again
  • The storage status will be the memory card that is inserted in the camera. Howl does not offer cloud storage yet.
  • The software version for the camera is displayed.
  • Image Encryption toggle on or off. If Image Encryption is turned on you will need to set or reset password for images.
  •  Use the toggle button to turn on or off sleep mode.
  • “More” at top of screen prompts a user to delete the device or cancel.
